COVID-19 legislation: What’s next?

Mar 27, 2020

As I said in my floor statement today, “The legislation we have enacted to stop the coronavirus is not perfect. No legislation ever is.” Especially with respect to applying each of the coronavirus laws in the Marianas and other non-state areas, there may be amendments that Congress will need to make. In addition, in the Education and Labor Committee we are already working on more protections for frontline health care workers, expansion of paid leave policies, emergency support for students and educators, and a guarantee of no-cost COVID-19 treatment for everyone in America. I will also be making sure payments to individuals in the Marianas are sufficient and issued quickly and focused on getting more direct funding to the Commonwealth government.
