Fellows pose great questions

May 11, 2019

The current cohort of Pacific Century Fellows quizzed me on the work in Congress during a video conference Wednesday night. I reported on the $8.8 million amendment for sewer repairs that I had just gotten the Rules Committee to approve for debate (see following story) and negotiations on H.R. 559, my bill giving permanent status in the Marianas to 1,039 persons at risk of deportation. Life in divided government, how to keep a work/life balance, relations with the Interior Department, being the Chairman responsible for K-12 education nationwide, federal law on cannabis and cockfighting, and my plans for a Medicaid hearing later this month were among the topics this new generation of leaders wanted to hear about.
