U.S. Service Academy slots available

Apply for nomination today – Now is the time for young men and women from the Northern Mariana Islands to apply for a congressional nomination to one of the U.S. Service Academies.  This year, there are four openings available: two at the Military Academy at West Point, one at the Air Force Academy, and one at the Merchant Marine Academy.  Attending a service academy is a unique opportunity to obtain a first-rate and entirely free college education.  Graduates also earn the honor of receiving an officer’s commission in the U.S. Armed Forces.  As your Congressman, I may make nominations, but final selection from among the nominees is made by the academy admission officials.  Good grades in high school, high SAT or ACT scores, physical ability, and leadership potential are the traits the academies are looking for.  More information and an application form are available at your congressional office website.  Applications for nominations are due December 15, 2011.  I encourage everyone interested to submit their applications as soon as possible.
