The Congressional Award

Xin "Steven" Chen and Rabeya Akter, the first Congressional Award medalists from the Northern Mariana Islands, with Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan.

The Congressional Award is an award given by the United States Congress to honor youth for setting and achieving challenging goals.  The youth of the Northern Marianas are invited to register and earn awards in each of the four areas of Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, Expedition/Exploration.

Individuals who participate will have fun earning progress towards awards by getting more involved in activities they already enjoy or activities they are trying for the very first time.  The program is open to all youth regardless of their ability, circumstance, or socioeconomic status, including young people with special needs or disabilities.

Any youth interested in taking on the challenge can visit to register and for more information on the program and how it works.  To register, you must be at least 13 1/2 years old.
