USCIS replaces LPR validity sticker
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will no longer issue stickers to extend the validity of Permanent Resident Cards. Instead, “green card” holders, applying to extend status, will receive a Form I-797 notice of receipt. That, together with their green card, will serve as proof of LPR status for twelve months from the date on the front of the card, while the extension is being processed. According to USCIS, this change ensures LPRs with recently expired cards will have documentation of identity, employment authorization, and authorization to return to the United States after temporary foreign travel.
